Surrey First Mayoral Candidate Tom Gill Says "We Must Ensure Every Vote Counts And Every Vote Is Authentic!"

So is this voter fraud even real or just the imagination and fabrication of individuals who are seeking to create havoc and secure Surrey's messy reputation but unjustified that it is the centre of dirty politics whether it's federal, provincial or now civic elections. To date, the Surrey RCMP has only received third party allegations of any wrongdoing in the election process.  No individuals have come forward to the Surrey RCMP to say that they have been victimized in any matters related to the voting process. So will someone be charged in this alleged voter fraud allegations or is just created to give the South Asian community a bad name? Given the heat of the current election campaign that will produce a new face in the Mayor's office, anything and everything is possible. It's dirty all right and it looks like those who aren't afraid to get really dirty may be the big winners on election day.

Given the heat of the current election campaign that will produce a new face in the Mayor's office, anything and everything is possible, including making noise to get your development projects approved in the midst of the election campaign.

It's dirty all right and it looks like those who aren't afraid to get really dirty may be the big winners on election day.

Surrey RCMP investigators have received a total of 72 mail ballot registration applications from Surrey’s Chief Elections Officer as a result of some noted irregularities in the applications. Investigators are reviewing each of these application forms and following up with each registrant to ensure the legitimacy of each application and whether or not the irregularities were as a result of an innocent error on the part of the applicant.

The Surrey RCMP is asking anyone who believes they have been or may have been victimized or unduly coerced for votes or personal information for voting purposes, to report it directly to the police through our new dedicated phone line for this investigation at 604-599-7848.

“It is extremely important that we receive first-hand complaints from any individuals who may have been victimized so we can properly investigate these incidents,” says Corporal Elenore Sturko. “We understand the time-sensitivity of this situation and have dedicated a significant number of resources and a new tip line to this investigation so the citizens of Surrey can be confident in the election process.”

As noted by Chief Elections Officer, Anthony Capuccinello Iraci, during the City of Surrey’s press conference on October 1st, the election has not been compromised as no ballots were sent out by mail and the mail ballot process has been amended to further protect the integrity of the election.

Surrey First mayoralty candidate Tom Gill says the integrity of our voting system is key and he fully supports the measures being taken today by the City of Surrey to ensure every vote counts, and every vote is authentic.

This after City of Surrey Chief Election Officer Anthony Capuccinello Iraci stated at a news conference this afternoon that "no ballots have been sent out by mail, therefore the mail ballot voting process has not been compromised".

“Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy,” said Gill. “This is an important election for our community because we have so many significant issues in front of us, everything from public safety to housing affordability, transit and community infrastructure. The action being taken by our city’s chief election officer gives me confidence that we’re going to have a fair election and that we can have confidence in the result on October 20th.

“I want to congratulate our city’s election team for their early due diligence and the efforts they are making to ensure the integrity of our election process.”
