Eight South Asians Among 21 Criminals Charged In Ontario Car Theft Crime Spree

Eight South Asians are among a large crime group of 21 criminals busted in a car theft ring that stole millions worth of vehicles. To date, investigators have arrested 21 people including Paramjit Nirwan, a 55-year-old man from Brampton, Janvier Sidhu, a 33-year-old man from Brampton, Sazzad Ali, a 40-year-old man from Toronto, Juvaraj Panneerchelvam, a 34-year-old man from Toronto, Karanjot Parhar, a 32-year-old man from Brampton, Shane Persad, a 32-year-old man from Etobicoke, Avin Ramkhalawan, a 36-year-old man from Toronto, Simarjit Nirwan, a 25-year-old man from Brampton, and laid 194 criminal charges and have recovered 36 stolen vehicles with an estimated value of $4.2 million dollars.

TORONTO – Eight South Asians are among a large crime group of 21 criminals busted in a car theft ring that stole millions worth of vehicles.
Region of Peel– Peel Regional Police Commercial Auto Crime Bureau along with auto theft investigators from 11 and 22 Divisions Criminal Investigations Bureau have made numerous arrests involving a car theft ring, recovering around $4.2 million dollars worth of stolen vehicles from across the province of Ontario.
In February 2020, investigators from the Commercial Auto Crime Bureau commenced a vehicle theft investigation called Project GTA-fordable. The investigation identified a crime group that was responsible for stealing numerous vehicles, re-vinning them and then fraudulently registering the vehicles with Service Ontario. The theives targeted car dealership properties within the Region of Peel as well as in several cities across Ontario.
To date, investigators have arrested 21 people, laid 194 criminal charges and have recovered 36 stolen vehicles with an estimated value of $4.2 million dollars.
As a result of the investigation a number of high-end vehicles were seized. Vehicle Brands seized include Ford, GMC, Chevrolet and Dodge. Luxury brands including Cadillac, Lincoln, Porsche, and Lamborghini were also recovered.
The following is a list of people arrested and charged to date as part of this ongoing project:
William Bray, a 48-year-old man from Burlington, was arrested June 1, 2020 and is charged with one count of Possession of Propery Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 14, 2020.
Paramjit Nirwan, a 55-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested June 5, 2020 and is charged with one count of Possession of Propery Obtained by Crime and one count of Public Mischief. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on August 10, 2020.
Michele Iamundo, a 68-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested June 10, 2020 and is charged with one count of Possession of Propery Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on August 17, 2020.
Luigi Beltrano, a 43-year-old man from Caledon was arrested June 24, 2020 and is charged with three counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and five counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on August 31, 2020.
Scott Wilson, a 35-year-old man from Rama Township, was arrested June 24, 2020 and is charged with one count of Possession of Propery Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on August 31, 2020.
Janvier Sidhu, a 33-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested June 30, 2020 and is charged with six counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, five counts of Possession of Automobile Master Key, three counts of Uttering A Forged Document, one count of Possession of Property for the Purpose of Trafficking, one count of Possession Break-In Instruments and one count of Obliterated Vehicle Identification Number. He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on July 1, 2020
Sazzad Ali, a 40-year-old man from Toronto, was arrested June 30, 2020 and is charged with nine counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, five counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, five counts of Possession of Automobile Master Key, one count of Possession of Break-In Instruments. He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on July 1, 2020
Juvaraj Panneerchelvam, a 34-year-old man from Toronto, was arrested June 30, 2020 and is charged with two counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on July 1, 2020
Carlos Munoz, a 33-year-old man from Toronto, was arrested June 30, 2020 and is charged with five counts of Possession of Automobile Master Key, five counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, three counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, one count of Possession of Break-In Instruments. He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on July 1, 2020
Karanjot Parhar, a 32-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested July 2, 2020 and is charged with 13 counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, eight counts of Mischief Over $5000, eight counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, five counts of Possession of Automobile Master Key, one count of Theft Under $5000 and one count of Uttering A Forged Document. He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on July 3, 2020
Jacob Nogueria Aviles, a 22-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested July 6, 2020 and is charged with five counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and one count of Possession of Propery Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 9, 2020.
Anthoney Pols, a 22-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested July 6, 2020 and is charged with five counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and nine counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 9, 2020.
Shane Persad, a 32-year-old man from Etobicoke, was arrested July 6, 2020 and is charged with 15 counts of Possession of Property Obatined by Crime, five counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, one count of Possession of Break-In Instruments and one count of Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime. He will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 14, 2020.
Avin Ramkhalawan, a 36-year-old man from Toronto, was arrested July 6, 2020 and is charged with nine counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle, five counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and two counts of Possesssion of a Prohibited Weapon. He will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 17, 2020
Nicholas Hosein, a 22-year-old man from Etobicoke, was arrested July 6, 2020 and is charged with one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 9, 2020
Giglio Fusaro, a 39-year-old man from Caledon, was arrested July 6, 2020 and is charged with seven counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, three counts of Trafficking in Stolen Goods over $5000, four counts of Carless Storage of a Firearm. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 14, 2020
Laura Snider, a 33-year-old woman from Kitchener, was arrested July 9, 2020 and is charged with three counts of Use, Trafficking or Possession of a Forged Document. She was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 23, 2020
Arber Dakaj, a 18-year-old man from Woodbridge, was arrested July 13, 2020 and is charged with one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 14, 2020
Simarjit Nirwan, a 25-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested July 13, 2020 and is charged with four counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on September 14, 2020
Kevin Michael Gauci, a 28-year-old man from Lefroy, was arrested July 21, 2020 and is charged with one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and one count of Trafficking in Stolen Property over $5000. He was released on a Promise to Appear and will be attending the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on October 7, 2020
The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are anticipated.
