Kejriwal Has 'Murdered' AAP In Punjab, Says Congress Minister Sidhu!
Is there some conspiracy or shady dealings behind Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s sudden and unexpected apology to former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia for alleging that the latter was involved in drug trade, which has put the Punjab AAP unit on the verge of collapse. Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party openly defied the party supremo for “letting down the people of Punjab”. Even the “Drunkard” Bhagwant Mann, who had become the Punjab face of AAP has quite the party. Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Kharar MLA Kanwar Sandhu took to the social media to air their grievance. The rumblings within the Punjab unit began soon after Majithia released a letter sent by Kejriwal. Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday said AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal has betrayed the people. How will AAP leaders now speak against drugs when their own leader has "meekly surrendered."
CHANDIGARH – Is there some conspiracy or shady dealings behind Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s sudden and unexpected apology to former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia for alleging that the latter was involved in drug trade, which has put the Punjab AAP unit on the verge of collapse.
Majithia had filed a defamation case against Kejriwal on May 20, 2016. Khaira tweeted: “We are appalled and stunned by the apology… and don’t hesitate to admit that we have not been consulted on this meek surrender.” Sandhu said that if you stand for truth, facing defamation is a way of life.
Sandhu said an emergency meeting of AAP MLAs has been called on Friday. “On one hand, the Special Task Force on drugs in Punjab has indicted Majithia, and on the other our own leader is asking for his apology,” he added. Many AAP MLAs feel this is a betrayal as the political “involvement” in illicit drug trade was one of the major planks on which the party got votes
“This proves they were raking up the issue to tarnish my image, harm me politically and themselves make political gains,” Majithia said, adding that he will withdraw the case. He claimed that AAP leader Ashish Khaitan too had submitted an offer of regret.
In the letter, Kejriwal said, “I made statements and allegations… these became a political issue. Now I’ve learnt these are unfounded… I hereby withdraw all… and apologise.”
Punjab Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday said AAP convener Kejriwal had "murdered" his party in the state by apologising to SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
The Delhi chief minister had yesterday apologised to Majithia for accusing him of being involved in the drug trade in Punjab, saying he had learnt that his allegations were unfounded.
"Today AAP has been murdered in Punjab by Kejriwal," Sidhu told reporters here.
Kejriwal's apology also drew flak from his party's leaders and MLAs in Punjab, who said they were "stunned" by the move and "disappointed" as he had not kept them in the "loop".
"His statement finishes the existence of AAP in Punjab. It is as if their existence has been wiped out today. Why? Because he was the man who used to say he will get Majithia arrested…," the Punjab Tourism minister said.
Kejriwal has betrayed the people. How will AAP leaders now speak against drugs when their own leader has "meekly surrendered", Sidhu said.
Hitting out at the Delhi chief minister, he said, "Man like coward Kejriwal dies everyday for fifty times. But a brave man dies only once in life."
This is a psychological death of the party. Kejriwal has decimated the AAP in Punjab, Sidhu claimed.
"Initially, he tried to run the party (in Punjab) from Delhi through remote control. Today, he is a helpless gambler," he alleged.
