Colourful Merritt Politician Seeking The Mayor’s Chair In October Civic Elections

He’s a philosopher, a poet, an artist and author but the former Merritt city councillor is also a formidable politician and after the powers-to-be in the city tried to harass and intimidate him, Mike Bhangu is going for all the marbles on October 15. Bhangu, who quit his council position after 3 years on council, is hoping to make history as first Punjabi, Indo-Canadian to become the mayor of Merritt which has seen Punjabi-Canadian stalwart politicians like Harry Lalli.

MERRITT – He’s a philosopher, a poet, an artist and author but the former Merritt city councillor is also a formidable politician and after the powers-to-be in the city tried to harass and intimidate him, Mike Bhangu is going for all the marbles on October 15.

Bhangu, who quit his council position after 3 years on council, is hoping to make history as first Punjabi, Indo-Canadian to become the mayor of Merritt which has seen Punjabi-Canadian stalwart politicians like Harry Lalli.

Bhangu said after two decades assisting the different political parties, and numerous elected officials, during the campaign seasons and helping several well-known politicians gain office, he’s ready to run for the mayor’s seat.

“To command is to serve, nothing more and nothing less.”(Andre Malraux) I bring a philosopher-kings attitude to the political arena, and for the betterment of the people and communities, I will sacrifice my all, and the moral and ethical foundation I stand on is unbreakable. There are not too many politicians as I, and I am indebted to the great thinkers, leaders, revolutionaries, philosophers, saints, warrior-poets, and mystics of the world who nurtured my mind and inspire me to make the planet a better place,” Bhangu told DESIBUZZCanada.

Bhangu is a prolific writer who has authored of over a dozen nonfiction books, his niche being political philosophy, world theologies, spiritualism, and western culture. He has long list of published books and the titles can be seen here www.amazon.com/author/mike_bhangu

Just this month, Bhangu released his latest book titled “The Big Bhangu Theory”. It is a compilation of articles he wrote while being a politician.

He also works as an actor within the Film Industry. He’s worked a dozen big budget films and television shows, predominantly as a Background Actor.

“My most notable appearance to date is for the television show Timeless (Season 1. Episode 5). Other shows I’ve worked are: Jurassic World, 100, Good Doctor, Prison Break, Six, Power Rangers, Dead Pool 2, Death Note,” he told DESIBUZZCanada.

He said while most of his work is as a Background Actor, he is still working toward his big break.
