DELTA – An Indo-Canadian man has been charged with causing serious life altering injuries while driving drunk in Delta.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jushan Virk was involved in a serious single car collision while driving impaired that changed two lives permanently.

As a result of the collision, one person is quadriplegic, and a second person received significant injuries - vertebrae and pelvic fractures.

On October 25th, 2023, a westbound travelling Acura RSX went off the road, crashing into trees in Delta's Watershed Park.  Two rear seat passengers were trapped in the car and required extrication by the Delta Fire Department.

Virk and front seat passenger allegedly fled from the scene prior to emergency responders attending.

After extensive investigation, charges related to the collision were approved in December 2024 against Surrey resident Jushan Virk, who has been charged with two counts of failing to remain at the scene of a collision causing bodily harm, two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, and two counts of driving with a blood alcohol level over .08.

Virk has been released from custody and awaits his next court appearance.
