Big South Asian Community Turnout For Param Grewal
- June 5, 2018

POSTED BY: DESIBUZZCANADA JUNE 5, 2018
Politico Param Grewal has always been described as a “Nice Guy” who has long worked behind the scenes in both provincial and NDP circles. And this week he made his debut officially as a politician, putting his hat in the ring for a Council seat in Delta with the incumbent slate now led by George Harvie, who is replacing outgoing mayor Lois E. Jackson for Team Delta. So it was no surprise that a big Indo-Canadian community crowd turned out for Grewal’s coming out party on Tuesday evening at the edge of North Delta and Surrey at the New Era Banquet Hall. Team Delta showcased their star Indo-Canadian candidate Grewal to the packed out. Grewal, a former PICS guy who was recently a top Assistant to NDP Minister Jinny Sims, said he is a community activist and a passionate advocate for social justice. He has advocated for the farming industry and has worked extensively with non-profit organizations in the social services sector. He has also worked as political and ministerial staff for elected officials at the provincial and federal level, in the corporate world and as an entrepreneur. “We are proud to have this accomplished problem solver on our team,” said Harvie to a loud cheer from the partisan crowd.
