BC COVID-19 UPDATE: Cases Rise Above 400 On Friday With Three New Deaths

Cases of COVID-19 rose above 400 Friday with three new deaths. More than 80 percent of British Columbians are now fully vaccinated. B.C. is reporting 437 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 222,013 cases in the province. There are currently 2,994 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 216,542 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 211 individuals are currently in hospital and 72 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

VICTORIA – Cases of COVID-19 rose above 400 Friday with three new deaths. More than 80 percent of British Columbians are now fully vaccinated.
As of Friday, Dec. 10, 86% (4,288,204) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 82.2% (4,097,320) have received their second dose.
In addition, 91.4% (4,238,687) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 88.4% (4,097,284) received their second dose and 12% (563,316) have received a third dose.
Also, 91.8% (3,971,911) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 88.9% (3,845,173) received their second dose and 13% (562,602) have received a third dose.
B.C. is reporting 437 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 222,013 cases in the province.

The new/active cases include:
* 105 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 871
* 90 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 589
* 93 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 575
* 22 new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 243
* 127 new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 664
* no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: two
In the past 24 hours, three new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 2,381.
The new deaths include:
* Fraser Health: one
* Vancouver Coastal Health: one
* Island Health: one
There have been 10 cases of the Omicron variant of concern identified in British Columbia, in the Vancouver Coastal, Fraser and Island Health regions.
There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. The outbreak at St. Paul's Hospital (Vancouver Coastal Health) has been declared over, for a total of four facilities with ongoing outbreaks, including:
* long-term care:
* George Derby Centre (Fraser Health); and
* Ponderosa Lodge (Interior Health)
* acute care:
* Ridge Meadows Hospital (Fraser Health)
* assisted or independent living:
* Laurier Manor (Northern Health)

Since December 2020, the Province has administered 8,919,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines.
