RArjan Badh is all guns blazing on the ice, racking up a huge point total in his Junior career. The 6’2″ forward modestly describes his game as “hard working, two-way and reliable in the defensive zone”. In 131 PIJHL games, Badh put up an impressive 124 points (44 goals, 80 assists), putting him in the same conversation as teammate Mac Colasimone in terms of notable Richmond Alum to play for SFU.

RICHMOND – When Arjun Badh played his first game for SFU in a preseason overtime win against Trinity Western last weekend, it was his first game since winning the Cyclone Taylor Cup with the Richmond Sockeyes on April 15th.

Badh, the son of realtor Gurdial Badh and a native of Richmond, would help his team with 4 points in the final 2-game series against Delta, earning him a first star nod in the first game and helping Richmond claim their 6th provincial championship.

Badh started and finished his Junior career with Richmond, with a short visit to the Price George Spruce Kings for 4 games during his rookie season. The 6’2″ forward modestly describes his game as “hard working, two-way and reliable in the defensive zone” – in 131 PIJHL games Badh would put up an impressive 124 points (44 goals, 80 assists), putting him in the same conversation as teammate Mac Colasimone in terms of notable Richmond Alum to play for SFU. Badh will also take over Surrey Eagles and SFU Alum Sam Chatterley’s #10 jersey.

Badh is entering the Criminology program at SFU, and has proven his strong work-ethic in the early part of the season.

“Arjun has done a great job coming into camp ready to compete, something all our forwards will have to do this season,” says SFU head coach Mark Coletta. “He is a big body that can really get up and down the ice and we expect him to bring a physical element to our lineup.”

Badh skated on a line with Ian Mackey and Mitch Ledyard.

“I want to be someone who the team can rely on,” says Badh. “Whatever situation it is, I want to be someone that can put out there in an important situation.”

Badh will have another opportunity to make his mark as on September 21st when SFU takes on UBC as part of the annual Captain’s Cup tournament. The following weekend, SFU heads to Alaska to for a difficult 2 games against NCAA Division 1 UAA Seawolves and UAF Nanooks. SFU’s first home game of the 18/19 BCIHL campaign is set for October 13th against defending champs Trinity Western Spartans.
