SURREY – An Indo-Canadian man has been charged in the semi-trailer truck theft.
Several Criminal Code charges have been sworn against 42-year-old Amandeep Singh Dhaliwal in a multijurisdictional semi-trailer theft investigation by Surrey Police Service’s Prolific Offender Unit.
In December 2024, SPS’s Prolific Offender Unit began an investigation into the alleged theft of 14 semi-trailers worth, collectively, over $1,000,000 after SPS received a report that trailers had been stolen from a semi-trailer dealer in Surrey.

The investigation, which spanned Surrey, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Calgary, led to reports of other stolen trailers in other cities. A suspect was identified by SPS’s Prolific Offender Unit and multiple search warrants were executed at properties in Surrey and Chilliwack. A number of semi-trailers, tools, and vehicles were seized.
On January 28, 2026, the following charges were approved by the BC Prosecution Service against Amandeep Singh Dhaliwal:
*9 counts: Possession of stolen property in excess of $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code
*5 counts: Possession of stolen property not in excess of $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code
*6 counts: Without lawful excuse, alter, remove or obliterate a vehicle identification number on a motor vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code

Dhaliwal was arrested on February 11, 2026, by Surrey Police Service. He has been released on bail and his next court appearance is scheduled for February 18, 2026, in Surrey Provincial Court.
Surrey Police Service said it would like to thank the Calgary Police Service’s General Investigations Unit for their assistance in this investigation.
