SURREY – Four members of accused killer Harjot Deo’s family have now been charged in the 2017 murder of of Bhavkiran “Kiran” Dhesi in Surrey.

Harjot Deo’s brother 24-year-old Gurvinder Deo is among the latest arrest of two men including 22-year-old Talwinder Khun Khun who have been charged in connection with the brutal murder of Dhesi, who had received a new kidney just prior to her killing.

Gurvinder Deo and Khun Khun, who is described by police as an extended Deo family member, were arrested Friday by IHIT investigators and charged by the B.C. Prosecution Service for accessory after the fact to murder, and indecently interfere with or offer an indignity to human remains.

IHIT investigators also gathered evidence which resulted in the B.C. Prosecution Service laying an additional charge of indecently interfere with or offer an indignity to human remains against 21-year-old Harjot Deo, who  already faces a charge of second degree murder.

IHIT continues to investigate with the assistance of policing partners in the Lower Mainland while using resources from integrated and specialized units within the BC RCMP.  Investigators are committed to finding everyone who is responsible.

“We know that there are still people out there with important information,” says Corporal David Lee of IHIT.  “We urge those people to come forward.”

Harjot Deo was charged with second-degree murder in May for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend Dhesi. The accessory charge had previously been laid in May against 53-year-old Manjit Kaur Deo and 23-year-old Inderdeep Kaur Deo, who are Harjot Deo’s mother and sister, respectively.

Lee went on to suggest still more charges and arrests could be coming in connection to the nearly two-year-old crime.

“There are still people involved,” he said. “We are still pursuing the investigation, and it is not over yet.”

Lee said investigators also believe more people have information about what happened, and urged those people to come forward to investigators.

“There are always people out there who know of what happened, and either saw what happened or was told by friends or family,” he said.

Dhesi’s body was found in a burned-out SUV near 24 Avenue and 187 Street in Surrey in August 2017.

IHIT said in May that Harjot Deo and Dhes, who was a student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, were “involved in a romantic relationship.”

Harjot Deo was in court Friday along with his mother and sister. All three are due back on July 3.
