The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) put out a press release on Facebook (not sent to media) to warn the public that Abby resident Varinderpal Singh Gill poses a significant risk to the public. But the police didn't say what it is doing to help this 19-year-old teen facing grave danger other than that his presence is dangerous for the public. Shouldn't the police be helping to save his life if he is in grave danger instead of just warning people to get out of the way.

ABBOTSFORD – The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) put out a press release on Facebook (not sent to media) to warn the public that Abby resident Varinderpal Singh Gill poses a significant risk to the public.

But the police didn't say what it is doing to help this 19-year-old teen facing grave danger other than that his presence is dangerous for the public. Shouldn't the police be helping to save his life if he is in grave danger instead of just warning people to get out of the way.

Police say Gill is involved in the gang conflict here in Abbotsford and in the lower mainland and believes he poses a serious risk to other gang members in the conflict. He is also at risk of violence by other gang members.

"Because many gang shootings occur in public places, this means Varinderpal Gill’s presence in public places creates a serious risk to public safety as well," APD said.

Varinderpal Gill (aka "VP") is 19 yrs old, very tall with a slim build. (6’,2” and 165 lbs).

The APD is taking the unusual step of asking that anyone who sees Gill in a public place within Abbotsford to contact the police by calling 911. Where possible, members of the APD will respond to that location and take steps to ensure the public are kept safe.
