Surrey RCMP is investigating a sexual assault after a youth was groped on their way to school near 94th and King George. On June 19 at 8:20 am, Surrey RCMP responded to an alleged sexual assault in which a youth was groped while walking in the 9400-block of King George Boulevard. The youth was walking on a pathway near a local school when they were groped by two men who stepped out of the bushes. The youth was able to push the suspects away and run to safety. Police responded immediately to make patrols and they are continuing to canvas the area to locate the suspects. The suspects are both described as Caucasian men.

SURREY - Surrey RCMP is investigating a sexual assault after a youth was groped on their way to school near 94th and King George.

On June 19 at 8:20 am, Surrey RCMP responded to an alleged sexual assault in which a youth was groped while walking in the 9400-block of King George Boulevard. The youth was walking on a pathway near a local school when they were groped by two men who stepped out of the bushes. The youth was able to push the suspects away and run to safety. Police responded immediately to make patrols and they are continuing to canvas the area to locate the suspects.

The suspects are both described as Caucasian men. 

At this time, police have a detailed description for one of the suspects. The man is described as:

  •         Mid-twenties
  •         Approximately 6 feet tall
  •         Blonde hair
  •         With a goatee on the tip of his chin
  •         Wearing a blue shirt with white horizontal stripes and black shorts

"Surrey RCMP Youth Unit is working closely with our partners at the Surrey School District throughout this investigation. Incidents of groping are a form of sexual assault and Surrey RCMP takes these reports seriously", says Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer.

We ask students to be vigilant as they are walking to and from school. Safety tips include:

  •             Walk with confidence. Keep your head up and know where you are going.
  •             Limit distractions. Store mobile phones and other valuables out of sight and remove your headphones.
  •             Call a friend. Let someone know where you are going or ask someone to walk with you.
  •             Take only your essentials. Carry only the necessary identification, money, or cards that you need. Have keys ready if you are heading to your car or house.
  •             Carry a whistle or personal safety alarm so you can alert others if you are attacked.
  •             Trust your instincts. If you think someone is following you, call 9-1-1, and then find the nearest place of safety.
  •             If a stranger tries to grab you, do everything possible to prevent them from pulling you away. Fight back and do whatever you can to draw the attention of other who can assist.
