The arrests linked to murdered Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar keep coming with the latest being another Indian national linked to the crime that shocked Canadians and Sikhs worldwide last June. The Canadian government has since announced, along with the US government in relation to attempted murder and conspiracy to Khalistan proponent Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, that Indian agencies like RAW had a hand in the crimes. On Saturday May 11, IHIT arrested 22-year-old Amandeep Singh, for his role in the shooting death of Nijjar.  Amandeep Singh was already in custody for unrelated firearms charges out of Peel Regional Police. IHIT pursued the evidence and gained sufficient information for the BC Prosecution Service to charge Amandeep Singh with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.  Amandeep Singh is an Indian national who has resided in Brampton, Surrey, and Abbotsford. “This arrest shows the nature of our ongoing investigation to hold responsible those that played a role in the homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” said Superintendent Mandeep Mooker, the Officer in Charge of IHIT.

SURREY – The arrests linked to murdered Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar keep coming with the latest being another Indian national linked to the crime that shocked Canadians and Sikhs worldwide last June.

The Canadian government has since announced, along with the US government in relation to attempted murder and conspiracy to Khalistan proponent Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, that Indian agencies like RAW had a hand in the crimes.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced the arrest of a fourth individual (three were charged last week) who has since been charged for his role in the murder.

On June 18, 2023, the Surrey RCMP responded to a shooting at the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara at 7050 120 Street, Surrey.  Responding police officers found 45-year-old Hardeep Singh Nijjar suffering from fatal gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the investigation and continued to work closely with numerous partner agencies across Canada, as far east as Ontario.

On May 3, 2024, IHIT investigators, with assistance of the BC and Alberta RCMP, and the Edmonton Police Service, arrested 22-year-old Karan Brar, 22-year-old Kamalpreet Singh, and 28-year-old Karanpreet Singh for the murder of Nijjar.

All three individuals like Saturday’s arrest are Indian nationals living in Edmonton, and have been charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

IHIT said it wishes to recognize the efforts and support of its partners, specifically the Abbotsford Police Department and the Central Region RCMP, in assisting IHIT to mitigate a significant public safety risk related to Amandeep Singh.

“This arrest shows the nature of our ongoing investigation to hold responsible those that played a role in the homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar,” said Superintendent Mandeep Mooker, the Officer in Charge of IHIT.

IHIT released the photo of Amandeep Singh in an effort to further advance the investigation. Photos of the other three accused and their associated Toyota Corolla were released on May 3.
