The Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society (VAHMS) celebrated another exciting Asian Heritage Month filled with arts and cultural events with a Closing Ceremony and Recognition Awards banquet at the venerable Floata restaurant in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown Sunday evening. VAHMS is made up of a very diverse group of board members with the Vice President being Dr. Shahid Abrar-ul-Hassan. It was a unique event celebrated with honouring many individuals who make it possible for the long standing multicultural Society to hold the annual Asian Heritage Month events annually, commemorating their 28th year of explorAsian. There were also wonderful performances by Flamenco Dancers with operatic Spanish singing by Kassandra Lea, Cyrene “La Sirena” and equally brilliant accompanying guitar by Peter Mole. Vince and Kage also performed their high energy Chinese drums and accompanying flute. Number of individuals and organizations, including Richmond Chinese Cultural Society (RCCS), were honoured for their contribution to explorAsian.
